VST search crashing ableton

I have set VST search to search my pc c drive and now it wont start!!!!


i have seen that people have had this problem on mac but not pc


could someone tell me how to resove this issue


i am worried it i delete ableton completely this will affect my rights on this computer as its my second ableton account

Hey man, I have the same problem here on my mac.

If you delete your preferences.cfg file Live should start up again correctly and it will create a new preferences.cfg file for you.
It's actually better to just rename it to something like preferences.cf_ or preferences.old instead of deleting it just in case you need to restore it back for some reason.

You can find this file here in modern Windows OSes.
c:/users/username/appdata/roaming/ableton/Live/Preferences

and here in old Windows OSes.
C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\Application Data\Ableton\Live\Preferences
