Which is most populars VST's ?
Hi guys last 2 months i learn a lot from Youtube clips
and i think its time to make my own //House//Progressive based song .
I think i have everything what i need in this case :
Keyboard MIDI controller , Monitor Headphones and Speakers , Sound Card
and software of course . But i want to take all my attention on 2 or 3 VST's
and learn them like a god . So my question is which of them do you recommend me .

Any reason you don't want to use the native Live instruments?

I would suggest getting one synth that is straight forward and quick to use and sounds good for the style you are into, for the bread and butter sounds first of all. For this I would suggest Sylenth1 for your genre. Sounds great and quite simple but versatile enough. For the second synth I would suggest something with more synthesis styles that you can explore gradually and use for more interesting sounds and gradually get into sound design with. It's always good to have something that can load and manipulate samples. Something like Camel's Alchemy comes to mind (It has multilayer sample loading or granular synthesis or additive and more). Even a full on sampler like Kontakt might be a good idea to be able to use real world instruments and such.

You can be as unique as you want to be w/ Live instruments. Between instrument racks, effects racks, sampling, and re-sampling you should be able to create VERY unique sounds using just the tools found in Live. Both Operator and Analog are very straight forward synths to learn backwards and forwards and will give you some very excellent sounds.HoTBanG wrote:There are no exact reason for that , just i want to "sound kind of uniqe" .AceLuby wrote:Any reason you don't want to use the native Live instruments?

Well given that there isnt alot as a starting point, you will definately sound unique as you end up doing pretty much everything from scratch.HoTBanG wrote:There are no exact reason for that , just i want to "sound kind of uniqe" .AceLuby wrote:Any reason you don't want to use the native Live instruments?

OTOH, using sylenth1, massive, omnisphere, zetta vanguard or whatever will mean you eventuall give into temptation and use presets and sound like everyone else
There is something to be said for crappy/few presets
