Back to topic, to reinforce your point, although there's a lot of cracked software out there this does not mean that someone has to use it.
Companies like Ableton pay salaries to their employees so they can run their lives. Getting their work without paying it's stealing. Let's put it clear. A car, a Mac, a PC a DAW, VSTs, all of this can be stolen. The fact that you're only stealing bytes doesn't make you any better. You're a thief. Especially today. We have alternatives. If people want to make music on the cheap, well there are options. Very good ones. We have Ardour (completely free, runs on Linux which is also free and has plugins) or we can pay for Reaper or Live Intro. Fair enough. This attitude of feeling 'idiot' because others do not pay what you paid... leads nowhere. It's not a justification in the current society.
Child play, Child crack software. If you're serious about your work, you pay. You pay for support, new releases, upgrades, patches and so on.
If I'm an idiot, well I'm an happy one.

Actually, both versions of the Air, the Arcade, 100% work, I remember that on occasion the group AiR also praised in a statement, the operation of the script (copy protection) of Ableton. I also agree developers should Ableton honor their users, so it should observe the work of staff that develops the Reaper.xzusa8ky wrote:Hi....
Just wondering if anyone on this board are using one of the "K" versions flooding around the net theese days? What i heard is that it is working without any problems. I feel like a idiot have been paying 1000 euros for something others just use for free. But maybe i should consider to upgrade to the Live Suite for free....Hmmmmmm
Sorry my english.

I'd feel like an idiot if I used cracked software that installed a key logger on my machine and ended up costing me more than the original software in the first place.

ah yes, the annual copyright/intellectual property thread. i see you have already covered the whole physical vs virtual property aswell, great.
now, why would you feel like an idiot for paying for software?
most users i know that uses live and/or others daw's come from a cracked version, used it well enough that it went beyong a simple nonprofit hobby and decided that it was time to pay up for the software they were using.
a cracked live usually works 100% but can whenever you least suspect it make your projects corrupt leaving you in a pretty akward situation since you have no support and no way of fixing it.
now, on the other hand, is live worth the money? depends how you look at it. if you are using it on an every day basis and you are making money off of it, sure i guess it's worth it. whether this is immoral or not to get a cracked version is up to the individual. the law is clear on what's what anyways.
for me, i bought live and i have yet to make a single cent from it so i technically spent 6+k swedish for software that didn't even hold up to what they were promoting it for, lost features and an extended beta period of something you paid full amount for and was expecting a stable version and so on and so forth.
now, in the vein of the usual antipiracy argument, that is the equivalent of buying a used car for 6k and getting a steeringwheel, a busted engine, breaks, wheels + half a seat.
has the components of a car, but it is not working as it should. however in this case the seller withdrew a feature, so the seller could take the steeringwheel back until further notice. commonly seen as a ripoff.
however, i still feel that it was a good buy because i am forcing myself to make the most of live simply because it was so damned expensive that i would feel sort of bad for not using it on an everyday basis, regardless of whether i am making money off of it or not.
that there is another reason for buying software; you are forcing yourself to use it rather then to give up and hunt down another one in the hopes that it is the software that is limiting you, rather then you realising that you need to learn how to use the software in order to fully utilise it.

here is a proud owner of live suite. and this soft like all other has it`s problems and good sides, but experience rocks here. even if it would be double the price - worth it and would pay for it. good job ableton, love you guys!

The OP of this thread is retarded. Where is your common sense? You show are showing blatant disrespect to the software developers by shitting where they sleep.
Maybe the appropriate place to ask about how good a warez works would be *gasp* a warez forum? It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure that out.

Re: Ableton.Suite.v8.2.1.MAC.OSX.INTEL.ISO-ArCADE
new year, new cracked thread
i can remember using a crack of ableton live long ago, and the good feeling i had when i finally bought.
i like the model (at least from the consumer side) that one can try out software and decide to continue using it / pay for it when they want.
this expects alot from consumers; that they support companies. but i think there are alot of chumps out there that buy too much gear, or just blindly buy whatever the standard is (microsoft / protools / etc) that these companies survive. ableton is probably just getting there now..

Re: Ableton.Suite.v8.2.1.MAC.OSX.INTEL.ISO-ArCADE
I dont think i am shitting on any developer here? I am only asking why "Craked" software are being used by such a big amount of people theese days without feeling bad about it. I guess that it is my right as a paying user of live to bring this topic here, i am NOT using craked software and i am supporting Ableton like it should be if you use Live for producing. And NO i am not going to post this on a Warez forum because i dont support their point of view. If you would take the time to read my postings regarding this topic you will notice that i am NOT saying that its right to use craked software! What i would like to know is if there is any way to stop things like craked software? I guess that the people who are craking software are programmers and developers too, and it would be interresting to hear why they are doing what they are doing? Aint they destroying their own income? Everyone knows that it is making the life for companys like Ableton way harder if craked software are available for everybody for free...seattletruth wrote:The OP of this thread is retarded. I want a new car. Now who can borrow me a crowbar and the, "how to circumvent the theft protection" tutorial! The later should be in PDF format so I can bring my iPad.

i ain't no brain scientist
xzusa8ky hasn't actually suggested anyone go and use cracks, or that it's ok to do so.
it seems that anyone who even tries to open a discussion on the subject gets accused of condoning piracy in some way...
i choose not to use cracks for the same reason i don't illegally download music, films, steal from my local shop, etc -
i would feel grubby, guilty and ashamed of myself. god knows i could do with saving the money, as i imagine everybody here could!
certain elements in society seem to have the idea that if you can't hold a product in your hands, if acquiring it doesn't involve
entering a shop or other point of sale, then it can't count as theft as there are 'infinite' units of said product.
obviously what they are failing to comprehend is the effort that has gone in to making the product in the first place.
it's sad. maybe it's a symptom of the 'minimum effort, maximum reward' reality tv show culture/attitude of many people today - they just can't appreciate the value of
creativity and hard work.
