its the same concept though... you're separating the monitor from the surface.

the foam is just a means to the same end.

i use Auralex pads. I think i paid 25 bucks for em... if i have to shell out another 25 bucks after a decade of use i don't think i'll whine about it too hard.

sure.. just 25 euro for rubish.. i bought for 25 euro the real stuff.. isolated 20 subwoofers for the telekom showroom with that.. the suround speaker set of the studio of big german university.. and my 4 speaker setsplus my subwoover..and..there is still enough left to do another 8 speaker pairs.. besides, theese foam blocks look ugly...

you just remind me that that would be actually a bad idea.. just to safe the nervs of the suppliers..thats industry stuff you cant buy in a shop anyway.

any foam will do that was the message.... so get your self a carpet knife and cut foam blocks in the szise that when the speaker stands on them,..the foam blocks reduce theire height betwenn 20 and 30 %.. when you tip the speaker it should swing slowly.. in a ferquency lots lower than the lowest the speaker can produce.. therfore many so called decouplings are not very good..

actually one of the best materials to achive that is latex.. its not stable for over 20 years either.. but lasts way longer than standard foam.. at least 10 years.. probaly more.. so when you find some latex containing furniture.. or bed.. you can cut very nice latex pieces as speaker decoupling out of that.. maybe dont take cuts from the feet end..


futon manufactors are a good source of fresh latex sheets.. perfect material.. the little amount you ned for your speakers you probably can take from the recycling container without costs... and when you dont like the whitish colour of it.. just paint it

on a one inch latex sheet you would need probably something like 4 times 3x3 inch per speaker.. depends on the hardness of the material..

latex is no cheap replacement for my "real stuff" its the real real stuff where the synthetic versions was modeld after..

change the record, i was just interested in a friendly bit of forum opinion, but tbh i'm a bit bored of that shit now, high density foam block, steel sheet, latex, better sound, enough money in the bank not to worry, fuck off.
