I do use it wirelessly. Every day and at gigs. It works great. My request has nothing to do with whether or not it works and everything to do with managing multiple apps and protocols
I use MULTIPLE iPad apps for performances; each one using a different fucking connection protocol:
touchAble uses it's own touchAble server via wifi
Konkreet Performer uses OSCulator via wifi
nLogSynthPro uses the Camera Connection Kit (no wifi)
Pianist Pro uses the OSX MIDI Network (though now supports the CCK!)
MidiPads uses both the OSX MIDI Network and the CCK
Molten uses OSX MN and the CCK.
The list goes on...
Each one that uses wifi requires a certain setup and management. Sometimes the apps are a bit buggy and forget your connection type. Or, in the case of OSX MIDI Network, you have to MANUALLY hit the connect button each time you switch from one app to another. In fact, you often have to QUIT out of the app in order to reset the network connection.
A simple, standard, USB connection option solves all of that nonsense. It's no different than the time honoured hardwire MIDI connection with hardware. It's there. You don't have to think about it or agonize over it.
And the latency will always be less than any wifi connection.
