Plug-in or function in Ableton to restore old vinyl records?

Hi people,

I need to transfer some music from old records onto reel to reel tape, but I since the records are old and have a lot of small audible scratches and stuff I was wondering if there is a free plug-in or maybe already a function in Ableton to restore the sound without havin to draw each individual tick an pop by hand?

Any help is appreciated (btw: I'm an audio engineer so to prevent these kind of comments: I know I need a phono pre-amp, hence that was not my question ).

no, there is no such thing as "remove crackles/pops" built into ableton. You better check out soundforge or such.

If you have Adobe Audition (formerly Cool Edit Pro) there's a pretty good plugin for that, called ClickFix - it works well.

I use sound forge for exactly this. There is a tool called "click and pop removal" or similar - does a decent job when you get the settings right (dependent on the specific clicks/pops you are dealing with).

Damn it works like a dream! Thanks for the programme! But I have one question: can you record within the record restoration it in higher quality then 44k1Hz 16 bit?
