I would like to use Soundforge 5 to edit samples, but it seems that live is not releasing the hardware. I would have expected a setting to "release hardware while in background" or something similar; does Live do this automatically when you select an external editor?
It may be a problem with my hardware (Terratec dmx 6 fire, generally treating me very well). with Soundforge 5 (not interested in buyng v. 6 just now), with the O.S. (Windows XP), or all of the above, rather than with live.
Anyone else having this type of problem? When I click "edit" in Live, the file opens up and I get an error saying "The device does not support one or more playback parameters", but I can edit the same file just fine if I open it within Soundforge.
Thanks for any help here,
e.

To be clear, I can edit the same file from within sblive as soon as I shutdown Live, which leads me to think that Live is not releasing the hardware. Soundforge only uses a "Wave device", not ASIO... maybe it is Terratec I should be asking not you all; still, any help much appreciated.
