A few details here on the next version of Isotonik, my Max4live device for Akai's APC40

And really chuffed to have Ableton share the video of Octop4d to all of their followers on Facebook and Twitter! Thanks David!!

Got all the looping scene done:

Set 1, 2 or 4 bar loops on four tracks without having to focus on a clip first!
Halve and Double Loop either by moving the start or end of loop point
Move a loop forwards and backwards by a bar at a time or it's length
See visually whether a clip is set to loop and how this relates to the playing position, Green = Clip is set to loop but playing position has not yet enterered the loop brace, Orange = In the loop brace, Red = loop is set to on (which'll stop an automatic follow action of playing the clip below) but the playing position has passed the loop end point so the clip will just play out......

Got a great team of Beta testers on board and have already seen the device go from 30% CPU at Standstill to around 8%

One device does all the work so far, a recover device is likely to be added for drumrack stuff....

Image

You can configure how the sixteen encoders work, mine are set up to work like a DJ Mixer in Pan mode whilst in Send A mode they handle a set of effects on each track....

Image

There's a pop up window that shows you where you are and allows you to record you reset values for each encoder, separate for each bank....

Image

And i've just started on incorporating the Sm4rt Knob effect into the device giving you 8 quickly accessible Sm4rt knobs....

Image

The final piece of work for now will be a rewrite of the Dummy effect, now that everything is controlled by Isotonik you can create really powerful dummy clips, say track one set send A at Full, Loop 4 bars, and then modulate the return tracks rack at the same time for 16 bars resetting everything back at the end...!

I know lots of people are raving over Stutter Edit, so one of the scenes is likely to give you clip launch control over four tracks and then 44 midi assignable buttons to control anything else you want to map to Ableton or otherwise, Serato control maybe??

Feedback as ever is greatly appreciated!

Is a view of the new Dummy device integrated into Isotonik 7 B3ta....

With the internal mapping you have access to any of the sends, return track racks and the first rack on each track giving you pretty much a free reign to create powerful dummy clips and then trigger them using the Activate, Solo and Arm buttons of the APC40...

The template will ship with a set of example dummy clips to get you started....

Any questions as ever fire away!!

So with the next scene (which'll be perversely scene 5) i'm building a midi editor of sorts for the APC40, half of the controller is given over to the Isotonik controls when Master Select is lit and so you can program up to 8 different pages of midi controls with as you can see from the screen shot control over the lighting when on or off and comprehensive control over cc, velocity on and off and the midi channel.....

More seasoned max programmers will be able to edit the device to create group buttons and the like but i've opted for the simplest of interfaces for the out of the box affair, all settings are of course saved with your live set....

A spin off from the work i'm doing on updating Isotonik to version 7 has been to expand the Looping options...

Image

This is my new Modul4r device Liquid, it gives full looping control of the track in which it's placed meaning the only limit is your midi controller having enough buttons....

You can set a one, two or four bar loop...
Halve it or Double it's length by moving the start or end loop point....
Move it forwards or backwards by a bar at a time or by it's length....

In addition i've combined the latest version of my Foll0w device as it uses much of the same architecture that running them both separately would be an unnecessary drain on cpu....

So full looping and clip or scene follow actions on clip end or clip stop.....

Any questions please feel free!

Version 7.1.0 adds a very simple feature...

Hold down the Clip/Track button and press one of the Clip Launch buttons and the view will change to display the clip thats located in that slot without triggering it to play.... Simple but effective....

Hey Darren, nice work. You're really making the APC and Launchpad a lot more useful. Have you figured out a way to have your Disabl4r switch back to (re-enable) default button mode on the APC40?

I can do it on all but few areas, the pan bank send a b and c buttons along with the clip stop buttons can't be reenabled currently...

CLip stop buttons now light up if a clip is playing in the track and move with the red box, press and hold the track select button for 1 beat and it'll focus on the clip playing in that track.... Simple control features along with full on lightships, the APC40 should be perfect for DJing with a little more work!

My APC 40 is packed at the minute as I'm moving house soon. Really looking forward to trying this out when I'm setup again. Thanks for all the effort you put into making these devices!
