Don't get me wrong. I have zero interest in using an iPhone for either instrument or controller apps in any long term sense. I'm merely curious as to how 2 touch apps might interact. For instance, I'd love to use Performer to control a MIDI track macro, but that MIDI track is actually routed out to my NLogSynth Pro app on my iPad (who's MIDI assignments I've already mapped to the macros on that track).

This kind of iPad to iPad via DAW has just not been done and reported on...at all.

I'm always bitching over at synthtopia and createdigitalmusic because those guys totally ignore the iPad integration with DAW usage.

WTF?
In fact, I've not even seen two iPad apps actually talking to one another via something like the iConnectMIDI interface.

Where's the fucking NAMM video of someone controlling NLogSynthPro via a controller app on another iPad or iPhone?
I hear you regarding the need for regular controllers. I just don't need them.
Wait...
