neophyte wants to work with sampled instruments - .exs24 etc
Hi,
I'm quite new to electronic music. I have Live 8.2.1 and an Akai MPK25 keyboard. I'd like to use a sample package from Boldersounds for a Harmonium. It comes in .exs24 and kontakt format.
It appears that I have to have "sampler" in order to use the harmonium package. Is this true? It seems like "sampler" is overkill for what I want to do. I don't want to mess with the sounds, I just want them mapped to my MPK25 so I can play the harmonium. Maybe I can do that myself, but I need someone to point me in the right direction.
Thanks
Steven

Kontakt has a free version, you can only play back the sounds you've got,
and not edit them, but that sounds like exactly what you are looking for,
so here you are:
http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/ ... kt-player/

Thanks. That worked for the kontakt (.nki) format. Is there a similar package for the .exs24 format?

I'm just curious, what does this thread have to do with 'neophyte' ?
Re: neophyte wants to work with sampled instruments - .exs24 etc
I often find it helpful to know a person's experience level when responding to a question, and likewise I often get better answers to my own questions when I let people know my own knowledge level in a particular area. In this case, I'm a real beginner so I'm hoping to get answers directed to a beginner (which I did, which solved my problem nicely).

I'm still unsure if your reply is related to my question about the 'neophyte' thing. Anyway, i'm glad your problem is solved..

ok, i think i know what he`s telling us.
neophyte is:
a person who is new to a subject or activity.
and regarding the .exs-file:
you don`t need to open the exs-file, if you now have the .nki-file available to work with?
they are both the same thing, just for different platforms.

yeah, what Miles said, the sounds would be the same on either format, and I am not aware of a free .exs player.
