No software is perfect and free from "missing anything"
i own the fucking box that the software came in and the disc it was copied to. i own the computer it is authorized to run on and the hard drives that the software is installed on.

so, i own the fucking software and i can eat the box, manual, and stickers if i want to. i don't own the company that makes the software but then i never said i did.

and as far as no software ever being perfect. i've never had Quickbooks or TurboTax crash on me. i've never had Excel or Word crash on me, either. how about Acrobat? nope, that's never crashed either. Winamp and KM Player don't crash. Reason doesn't crash. do i need to go on???

point is, there are many programs out there that work perfectly. and most, not all, of those programs aren't missing anything. sure features will always be added but none of it is necessary to make the software functional. they already have everything they NEED to have.

that's always a nice surprise of software developers. especially when they collaborate with other companies on those features.

No, we'll just laugh. Toys are fun to play with, I guess, though...

if still no autom to session and properly working pdc, will fully switch to usine for perf/live/creative/(actually using booth usine and live) and will then bounce stuff for logic i might try as linear daw for mixing/automations/pdc accuracy/mastering.

i would prefer stay on live, but the decade waiting booth features has definitely fed me up, will give a shot at usine+logic combo.

sure you can eat the box. with some dressing it might even be palatable. The stickers sure, but that might be rough the next morning. But the source code itself would be hard to consume. A copy of it sure. But all the legal documents that go with software licenses? Dude, those are in triplicate most of the time. I guess you could use some fiber...

Look, I totally understand how frustrating this stuff can get. I remember trying to make Live 4 work on some crappy desktop replacement and being amazed (and pissed) that I could have twice the amount of plugins in Cubase. But I found out that I could either use a bunch of plugins in Cubase or make music in Live. I chose the latter.

We are all entitled to voice our opinions. You have made yours, I have made mine.

At no point did I say that Live didn't work for me. Quite the opposite actually. Aside from the fact that I never finish anything I start despite Tarekith's great advice, Live is quite easy to fire up and throw down ideas. I'm just curious as to what direction everyone is leaning right now. Are you considering moving to another DAW or are you content regardless of the lack of implementation of certain features? It's too hard to find an actual comparison across the board on what each DAW has or doesn't.

When I started off (6 months ago lol) I wanted Live to be my be all end all DAW but as I've learned the program I've realized it's better that it wasn't. I like that they've implemented simple features to make it a all doing DAW but instead of emulating what the other digital studios are doing, I'd like to see Ableton push down walls and just make extremely radical stuff like Max for Live. Anyways once I get my macbook i'm going to purchase Logic for all my producing/engineer needs but my main tool will still be Ableton. For example the reverb isn't realistic.. at all.. but it sounds soo good for shimmer effects on guitars and such. So Ableton=sound designing, for myself at least.

If Mac OS 10.7 Lion doesn't deliver...

Will you get:

a) Windows 7
b) Ubuntu
c) Vista
d) XP
e) DOS 6.22
f) Bugger all, I'll carry on using the same thing I currently do, 'cuz I don't have to buy sweet F.A. unless I really want it, it's a genuine improvement from the last version, and it really does look better/faster/more stable or have features I really need.
g) Actually think about playing instruments more and staring at my computer screen less.
h) Buy a gun and shoot lots of people at the Apple Store and the surrounding shopping centre, before turning it on myself, crying down the barrel, and dying an empty shell of the man I once was before I made any computer based music.
i) an Atari ST and an 8-bit sampler, and form a KLF/Shamen/MARRS covers band.

Or you could just invest in a good 3rd party verb that will still probably be better than whatever Live decides to bundle.

Think I'll go with-
h) Buy a gun and shoot lots of people at the Apple Store and the surrounding shopping centre, before turning it on myself, crying down the barrel, and dying an empty shell of the man I once was before I made any computer based music.
