Saving the file; restart Live; and re-open this save; it now uses 363mb. It lost 1000mb of usage.. The crashes appears upon nearing 2gb of ram usage. But where is the last 1gb of the 3gb in total?
The following is just a theory: When you can still Undo to go back to those files you deleted, those files must be ready to snap back into the track. If you Save/Reload, you lose the undo history, you get prompted to delete unused recordings (if any) and your RAM usage should be different.

That sounds logical! But I still wonder if Live just uses 2 of my 3gb of ram. Because it always crash at the peak of 2 in the Task Managers performance overview. Ive had the Task Manager open on a second monitor at all times, the last two days. Whenever were geting close to 1800mb usage, we have to render stuf to audio to prevent crashing.

Project is about 10 minutes long. All audio files at 24bit 44.1khz, and the audio clips are cutcup and consolidated, to save resources. Max lenght on the audio clips are about 1 minute. Were gone through everything, and theres nothing special about this project.

How big is the decoding cache and is there anything in it?

Its in the Live Recordings folder. But I guess this probably isn't a problem unless you're using lots of MP3's in the set. Which may not be the case.
Even if it didn't clear from previous sessions, there still is no reason why it would fill up space from a previous session.

It sounds like you have a very reproducible scenario here.
Somebody at Ableton Support might be able to offer more information from those crash logs.
At the very least, maybe they can explain where that missing 1000mb went to.

BBR wrote:I have the same issue as several people in here have noted. Recently I downloaded a lot of plugins, and am gaining a lot of samples stored on an external hard drive as well. I have about 6 different plugins running in one session, and in some cases multiple instances of things such as effects and reverb. At first I thought it was caused by my midi controllers, an apc40 and an akai mpd32, but I'm pretty sure its the plugins. I start live up, it gets to a certain point of the loading process, and crashes. I then have to go into my task manager (PC) and end the process. Then I click into Live again, and it works. Yesterday it kind of froze my task manager, and wouldn't end the process, so I had to restart. After the restart, Live just wouldn't open and crashed instantly after clicking it. It resolved itself magically though.

I kind of wonder if its because all my software is cracked though...
Lol. Cracked.....

Well for me even after a failure, some of my projects won't open back up.

I hate it and I can't figure it out what is the culprit.
