Yet windows requires a Trojan called anti virus software which slows down the system, requires constant updates and people pay for it. Lol

The thing is - while its possible to compromise OSX it's just not profitable to write a trojan to do it.
Pwn a Windows machine and it's likely you have access to all sorts of corporate info, databases, terrabytes of drab but exploitable data, etc..

Pwn a mac and you have access to some MediaStudies course notes, a PDF manual for a La Pavoni spring piston espresso machine, and 18 billion unfinished dubstep tracks.


So really, it's gonna be a long time before anyone wants to pwn that.

To put this info into context:
It was done on site, at the event in 5 seconds. However, it took weeks to find the exploit AND actually write a custom piece of code to execute.

Let's SPIN a little truth here, shall we?

This has almost EVERYTHING to do with browser security and little to do with OSX vulnerability. Well, that's not entirely true because OSX remains far more robust in terms of virus/trojan resistance.

Chrome has thus far remained immune to this event. In fact, the hackers never show up. (sparking a number of rumours about Google's involvement, of course.)

A Mac running Chrome instead of Safari would not have fallen.

A Windows machine running Chrome instead of IE would not have fallen.

I loves me some Digital_Damage, but of course all of his Mac related comments are misleading and disingenuous. OSX did not fail. Win7 did not fail. Safari and IE failed.

Oh yeah, I completely agree. In fact, I think that pretty much everybody agrees with that, at least to a certain extent.

More what I'm getting at is that OSX isn't "invincible" like a lot of fanboys would tell you.
