jomox mbase 11, recording in sterio

Post by Mismoplastico » Tue Mar 08, 2011 7:38 pm

after a long wait i've finally received my jomox mbase11, and i must say that i absolutely love the thing. however, my one and only complaint (thus far) is that it only puts out mono frequencies. what is the best way for me to record/play this thing in stereo? i've read that some people use "audio effect > utility > right". is this my best option, or is there something else i should try?

the output is mono, most drums are kept in mono, you don't have two kick drums playing on different speakers (do you!?) :)

anything you want separation on i would double track and use panning + delay. however you need to be really careful about phasing when you do that so leave a utility on your drum bus or master with width set 0. repeatedly click it on & off until you're sure that the collapse isn't causing phase issues. have fun man

This is a kick drum module,, I have an Mbase01. In general u want your kick in MONO so it hits as hard as possible. Are u using the module for the main kick drum, or something else?

i want to use it to make my kick patterns and baselines. right now i'm using an instance of utility with the channel set to stereo and left phase enabled. that seems to be working well. is there a better option?

i'm aware that i don't want two different kick drums coming out of different speakers, but that doesn't mean i want my kicker to only be heard from the left.

Cool I get what you're asking now. The issue is you're recording, and then the signal from the Jomox is playing back out of only one channel.

The thing to do is make sure u record in mono, not stereo like it is now. On the in/out section of the Ableton track, u wanna change the input to record from either 1 or 2, instead of of 1/2 (for example). Then no more problems and strong analog THUMP from the jomox,,,
