Features you would like to see in Ableton 9?
Re: Features you would like to see in Ableton 9?
ah, I misunderstood it. Sorry.
Yeah, I don;t have time to get into that whole M4L thing.
Christ, I'm sat here writing a site-membership class in PHP right now and it's past 2am. I don't want to stop this and get into music mode and open up ANOTHER IDE / code environment.
Balls to that. Where's my bass and fuzz pedal.
I want to see less IDE in Live 9

Last Christmas I took up learning Max for Live and then at some point thought 'what the hell am I doing?'. I need to learn more python, .NET and javascript, not how to make more music toys. I need to PLAY music when I have free time!!!! I was about to sell Max for Live until I just found out that parameters inside racks can now be accessed and parameters can be remembered when devices get moved around. I'm keeping it only for an updated version of Hoffman2k's snapshot morpher. seriously. precisely for the map anything to anywhere function.

How many 'map anywhere' patches are there? Does hoff's snapshot morpher actually 'slew' or 'ease' back into snaps you've taken? If not, we've already got ClyphX...

But the map anywhere thingy....

Hey LSZ...
Just out of interest what specifically would you want to do with the macros, i understand one macro in the main set to control the return rack but what would it do when you did it??
Cheers

I definitely got mapping anywhere covered. Track volumes, parameters inside racks, etc..LoopStationZebra wrote:glitchrock-buddha wrote:I hear that!Angstrom wrote:ah, I misunderstood it. Sorry.

Shit. Maybe I'll keep my eyes peeled for a used M4L. No way I'm paying full retail for something in which I'll never create anything for....

I think it even maps to the tempo control.
Slew or ease? In other words a Glide effect? It can be done.
With the latest Live beta, they doubled the speed of the API. It does "instant" now too.
First I'll finish the 16 Macros device. Which is basically Rack Macros with presets for loading different sets of parameters. It keeps track of everything. You can move shit around and even save it in a Rack preset. But in that case it only remembers the connections to devices in the Rack.
Next up is the new Snapshot morpher. With a feature to jump or morph to a set of preset values. The morphing is now done with nodes, meaning you can morph up to 8 different presets.
With the speed bump in the latest beta maybe more and possibly at LFO rates.
Then the Clip Mapper, which will keep track of anything. Moved tracks, scenes, devices and clips.
Works much like the 16 Macros device, only you select presets by triggering clips.
Assigning clips is now just a simple point and click. Just like assigning parameters.
Did I mention its all stable too? Been doing some fairly outlandish things in MFL, holds up nicely under pressure. Live 8.2.2 kicks ass!
Re: Features you would like to see in Ableton 9?
the option to set a loop of reasonable lenght with one single click in an long recorded file..
mac book 2,16 ghz 4(3)gb ram, Os 10.62, fireface 400,
Re: Features you would like to see in Ableton 9?
Without doubt the most solid release yet... I was thinking we'd have to wait for M4L 2 for lots of what they've just dropped in... Shaved about 3% of the cpu of my largest device with no change made by me as well!hoffman2k wrote: Did I mention its all stable too? I'd like to see CPU efficiency and not very demanding system requirements.
Reliability and efficiency basically, the rest is already there.

Track comping and more creative automation curves/options are definitely "wants" of mine, but the poor CPU efficiency of Live is the reason I've been demoing other DAWs. I really hope they fix this. Or maybe offer two "modes"...like a live performance mode and a recording mode.vladimotor wrote:I'd like to see CPU efficiency and not very demanding system requirements.

Wishful thinking, but I'd like the ability to turn session view into a Tracker.
