hello!
to get right to the point, i know the difference between digital audio and midi clips in ableton as stated in the manual and from research.. but i don't know when to use which at what time? Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Audio vs Midi
Re: Audio vs Midi
The decision is usually made for you, it's not really much of an issue these days...If you're working with recorded stuff (guitars, vocals) or like to drop in one-shot hits and stuff an audio track is the most straightforward way to go. By necessity, software synths, drum racks and samplers would run on a midi track. You just need to wrap your head around the idea that audio can be dropped into samplers and drum racks too, even though they then run on a midi track. And even then, you can record that midi track into an audio file...it's really just about flexibility and whatever works best for you.
