Been using this daily and at a gig last weekend. It deserves a bump because there's just nothing else like it really.

One thing that I didn't realize, or wasn't clear on the website, was that this thing isn't tied to MIDI I/O at all. Because of the script it will control ANY macro you've got (it will actually control whatever device you've got selected as well, lol). 8O Way cool to skip over to an audio loop I've just made and mangle the sound based on my macros in the FX rack. Wicked, wicked cool.

One feature request: Because you can control any macro it would be excellent to have another row of tiny buttons that could be MIDI mapped to anything in Live. In this way I can MIDI map to a specific macro on a specific track without having to look at my screen. Just hit a button and I'm controlling Audio Track 1 parameters. Another button hit and I'm controlling a Drum Rack's macros..

:)
I came for the

Hey LSZ, yes, you're right about the Live Instant Mapping script - works really nicely for that kinda stuff. Thanks for the reminder - we'll add that to our website info too... :)

Think I get you with the extra buttons - while we want to keep exploring what we can do with geometries and gestures rather than add any more buttons, the next update will have OSC messages triggered from the bank buttons, as well as the absolute bank number, so that can be mapped in Live to, for example, a rack chain selector.

Keep the ideas coming - feel free to post on our KL forum too - http://konkreetlabs.com/forum/

How did your gig go? :)

Gig went great. People kept coming up to have a look at Performer. They were like 'WTF is THAT? How does that work?'

Even as I typed my last post I regretted asking for more buttons, lol. It all too quickly turns into a standard controller. :x I'd say it would be perfect to be able to have the bank buttons fill that device select function via mapping. It's just another way of going DEEP with this app and controlling all sorts of stuff without having to zip over to either touchAble and select a device/rack, or look at the screen.

One thing I've been exploring is ClyphX in order to try and capture all my settings for tracks/macros/devices before I start to mangle them with Performer. It would be great to have a chance to return to the starting point during a live gig.

:P

For our German readers, Konkreet Performer gets its first printed review in the March edition of de:bug, just out today. A two-page review, sandwiched between Waldorf and Cubase :) - review conclusion: "It's worth it!" :D

So this program isn't ready for Win 7 yet? I've seen references(in your forum) to midi yoke and pd but no step-by-step instructions on how to achieve this? Or am I missing something?
I own Reaktor, it will communicate with it directly through OSC?
Thanks, very cool tool! :D

Hi Anubis, was just testing our OSC->MIDI converter on Win7 this evening and it's looking good. Will post here again when it's ready and provide full step-by-step instructions on our site (it's really very straight-forward)... Will keep you posted! :)

Edit: oh, and in answer to your Reaktor question - yes, that already works fine on Windows 7 as it's direct OSC to OSC communication

That's great! :D Thanks for sorting that out. I can't wait to get my hands on Performer.

How-to: OSC->MIDI for Windows users -> http://konkreetlabs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=62

Installation takes about the same time as half a cup of coffee, all free, and tested performance on Konkreet Performer 1.0.6 -> Windows 7 -> Live 8.2.1 on an adhoc network was fast and stable... enjoy! :)

Whooaa! That was quick! 8O Hey 80, when I click on the link for the kp_basic.pd patch it opens a page full of gibberish text in Google Chrome. It doesn't seem like a patch to me. And one more thing, does it have to be an ad hoc connection or will it still work over a router? Thanks, you guys deliver!

Ok, you should right-click on the kp_basic.pd link and "save as..", but that's useful feedback, I'll put it in a zip file to avoid confusion...
Both ad-hoc and router connections have been tested and work fine, though obviously you get lower latency with ad-hoc...
Thanks for the feedback... :)
