Ok,
I have the Akai MPK Mini recognized through Live through the User Remote Scripting capability. I have Pad Bank 1 operating Impulse sample slots, Pad Bank 2 operating transport controls, knobs mapping to Macro Knobs and everything works just fine.
However when I set the MPK Mini to accept external sync (to sync its arpeggiator tempo with Live), and in the Midi Sync tab of preferences turn on all of input/sync/output on the MPK mini (in and out - doesn't matter), when I turn the arp on in the MPK mini and hold keys it plays nothing (indicating that it's not receiving sync from Live).
Any ideas?? (not a noob, not new to Midi or music production and not new to Live so please consider that in your response - if you have experience with this please reply - if you don't, I know your intentions are good, but if you haven't solved this problem you won't help - someone with an MPK Mini must have already addressed this problem)

you might need to have live playing

I think you can set internal vs. external MIDI clock in the Akai editor for it.
Haven't tried it with my Mini myself, but I remember with my LPK25 it wouldn't take MIDI until I changed it to External on the preset in the editor.

just hit the play button.... can't sync if you don't hit the play
you must run the tempo in order to get feedback from live

make sure only "Output" is set to "sync" if you are trying to use Live as the Master clock. "Input" should only be set to "Track" and "Remote"
also, yeah, hit play

Re: Help in getting Akai MPK Mini to sync its arp to Live 8
probably a dead thread now but the solution for me( using live 9 on a mac ) was-
download new mpkmini editor from akai page & open it
on editor set arp clock to external
latch to "on"
save it as a preset
hit upload , dialogue should say upload ok.
settings in ableton prefs-
midi output to mpk mini - turn on sync
make sure arp setting is turned on on mpk mini
hit play on ableton & mpk arp should now be locked to ableton tempo.( ie raise & lower temp in ableton & arp tempo changes along with it)
