cc data not traversing a midi track set to monitor in
cc data not traversing a midi track set to monitor in
Hi,
I've set up a midi track, set to monitor in. Input is my midi controller, output is to an external synth.
Notes pass through and play, but cc controller data does not.
What's up with that?
Cheers

Are you trying to control Ableton or your synth? What do your midi preferences look like?

Hi,
My synth. Preferances has track and remote enabled.

Ah now,
No-one uses live to pass midi controller cc parameters to an external synth?

Not sure if it's very common.
Try plugging your midi controller directly into your synth, and see if it works.
You might also want to make sure that your synth is accepting the CCs that your controller is sending.

In my experience cc data are transmitted through tracks without problems.
But there is one restriction: Live filters out duplicates, ie. you cannot send the same message twice.

Once I have tried to transfer cc data and I did it without having problem, there will be some restrictions that’s why you are facing this problem, read all the terms and conditions again and try it again.

Hmmmm,
Interesting so it should work. But for the life of me I cant get it to!
Can anyone clarify their settings?
I have:
Controller (bitstream 3x) midi out to midi in on the computer.
Midi output from computer goes to synth (DSI evolver)
Track set to monitor output on midi channel 16.
Track and remote on for the input and output device in preferences.
Press a key - synth plays a note. Twist a knob - nothing.
Wierd

Cracked it - sort of, but would still appreciate help.
It would seem that if you have a knob/slider assigned to an ableton function in the software, cc values are not passed through to a midi out port, even if the track is set to do so.
If the knob/slider does not have any previous assignment, the cc values are!
This is very clever and exactly what one would want, but I would like to understand it more. Is there a setting for this somewhere? Does this mean one controller knob can never control an internal parameter and an external parameter at the same time?
I would just like to understand it to avoid mistakes.
Thanks
