Echo Audiofire 2 or Apogee One?

Post by tigali » Thu Mar 17, 2011 2:29 pm

Due to the postage costs there's only really 20euro in the difference. For that little I can't really decide between them. Anybody use both and have an opinion? I'm on a Mac and I want it for playing live.

I don't know about Apogee One, but Echo Audiofire 2 was a great card when I had one, although 2 outputs were not enough for me. Now I have Audiofire 4. I also like the idea of chaining cards, but I think other manufacturers also support that feature. But while I'm sticking to Audiofire I'm thinking of buying another one, just to expand number of output channels.

Apogee has a real good reputation for sound quality...

It's also very pretty. Mind you, they're both quite attractive looking. I'm slightly leaning toward the apogee as they do have a reputation for great sound but something is drawing me to the Echo. I wonder is it because it looks a little sturdier?
