what's that?
when you drag a clip from the session view into the impulse, there is a click at the end of the sample.

I am too lazy to confirm if this is a feature of v5 or not, but i think it hasnt been added...the ability to render all tracks as individual files is the only feature request i need. I can get by without, but it would be greatly appreciated...and video support would be nice as well. I am starting to do more and more projects for picture and revision is pretty shit.....nice to meet you at mutek (i was the guy who gave you and bernd copies of my cd with the weird rock formation on the cover when you were chilling by the water...what a wonderful weekend it was!)

meant to pm you but might as well leave it in this thread.....

yes, this is one that is definitly a more straight forward (i wont say simple) ;) addition we really need bad.

its a lot of drudgework bouncing individual tracks - when you have sometimes 20 or 30 tracks total - for final mixdown/mastering

is it covered in vs 5?

which is one of the main reasons we love this software so much, nobody is doing it quite the way you guys are.

so if you do add the feature, its hopefully going to be done in the most intuitive, flexible way it can be done.

i guess what im aiming at in this thread are the things that are so basic and useful, not having them must be an oversight? or simply being so swamped with other priorities they keep getting pushed aside.

we really need those custom key commands though, please dont push it aside :)
.

to which i would like to add - the features i was thinking about in this thread are almost all ones that dont need to add any more clutter to the interface

they're internal or key command attached features the eliminate drudgework .. at a certain point with a program you use professionally/semi professionally, you need features that allow you to work faster with less effort.

so: key commands - nothing on the interface, simply a way to map the computer keyboard ergonomically so you are flipping around with less mouse ....

render indivual multiple seperate tracks - simply a command that does the tracks seperately rather than all in one wave. saves hours ..

yes there are thousands of things on the list but if we dont get some of these, its going to be at least another year of countless hours doing things the harder way ;)

seems like we need a global freeze as well as a track freeze. that would generate those waves. I think it's important that its focus would be both on freezing and on the quick-n-easy multi-clip, multi-track rendering.

- actually, global freeze would rock, now that I think about it - build up your track, max out your cpu on vstis n shit, press global freeze, go have some tea, come back and just keep working!

Yeah thats a great idea. Right now I name my midi tracks in capital letters and audio tracks in lower case, but it still takes a moment to see what's where when I open a project...

I'd like to see this as well, truth be told. Often the simplest suggestions are the best!

auto clip color
Let's say you've copied a drum clip to the arrange view and duplicated it 10 times.
Now you want to edit the 4th clip to make a break or something.
It would be very usefull if that clip changed color automatically when you edit it's content so you know it's different from the others..

grid issues
- It would be usefull to have a slightly thicker grid stroke for 'bars' in the clips and arrange..
There is a difference between 'beats' and 'notes' allready, but not between 'beats' and 'bars'...

- horizontal grid lines in clips for all parameters..

envelopes
- bezier curved envelope editing..

- 'magnetic' grid... so that envelopes 'snap' to grid..

- to be able to view all envelope automation within a track..
so when you unfold a track, you can unfold each different automation lane as well so you can see all edited parameters togheter..

highlight clips
better selection highlight signal for clips in arrange view when a track is folded..
the highlight color/border is very minimal...
maybe it's better option to 'dim' the entire clip color instead of a colored selection border...

The ability to off grid quantizing while midi editing, without losing the grid. I like to move my drums hits ever so slighty before and after the beat, but as soon as you turn off quantize, you lose the grid too.

do you mean moving them with the mouse?
have you tried Alt-Clicking the midi notes? that allows you to move the notes without grid-snapping

cross fader curves!!!!!

the current crossdfader drops the signal off from the other side really really quickly - u have to have it exactly in the center for a decent balance..

its ok for choppin from one side to another - with ma microcontrol's joystick springin it back to center, but for smooth mixing i wouldnt like to use it

i'd have to buy an external mixer if i wanted to do that - and i'm not really a dj (its just somethin i dabble with now and again) - the crossfader is somethin i use as a production effect - and in live sets..

This is wat i am soooooooo missing too. Please ableton put this in

The second thing i really mis is the ability to assing multiple clips to one midi cc or midi note

The third little thing i'm missing the ability to name the cc's on a miditrack. this would make working with externalsynths and working with several miditracks routed to one vsti so much easyer

If the abletons put this features in i'll send them a bithdaycake or a bottle of booze

Bezier CC editing.. for lighting that stupidly doesn't fade up or down in a linear fashion!

Naming CCs would be cool, too. Easier to remember "Scanner 1 pan" or "RGB video sweep" than "74 - (Controller)"!
