Re: A fat reverb !
their ValhallaShimmer reverb is really nice, this should be good.
Re: A fat reverb !
mverb is free and sounds pretty warm/big good to me, just make sure you split your frequencies and don't add too much to the low-end. I prefer it to Live's built-in reverb for apply to a bassline.

Re: A fat reverb !
3Phase - what other Reverb VSTs do you rate (in this price range or cheaper)?
Re: A fat reverb !
I am probably not the person to ask...i dont like reverb plugs so much.. prefer hardware reverbs.. but from the reverb plugs that i tried in the past i found the waves renisance verb most usable.. bad thats a while ago.. i wonder what it costs theese days.. It was actually pretty good. only one i can remeber i liked from the tone and that created hardware alike handling feelings.contakt321 wrote:3Phase - what other Reverb VSTs do you rate (in this price range or cheaper)?
Lately I only use logic space designer from time to time.. but it sounds allways the same independent from the impulse response.. but nice nevertheless...
in the moment i mainly need something for small tight rooms.. like the spx early reflection.. I really missed that during gigs lately because the usual plugs dont do that rougher stuff without sounding shit.
But i am actually open to recomendations myself..
theese m verb was not too my liking its not fine enough sounding to clear up a mix. and nothing for tight rooms

Re: A fat reverb !
Aha, thank you for sharing your insight. I always hear good things about Logic Space Designer, never tried it.
I am actually using the Reverb in Sugarbytes Effectrix a lot (in fact, I only really only use it's Delay and Verb), which I like, but it has a "sound" to it, that I am not 100% happy with (full disclosure - it could be user error) so I am looking for other reverbs with nice, simple, interfaces.
I have to say, I am tempted to just buy an Alesis - Midiverb II and use that on everything, I mean half my favorite (house and techno) records I grew up on probably only used that one reverb unit. The only thing holding me back is my own laziness of not wanting to complicate my mix process and add one more piece of hardware gear (I always striving for a better and faster workflow). Very tempted though.

there is some hardware reverbs that go very cheap theese days.. but i would prefer a lexicon over an alesis..
problem is with the limited space you have on stage theese days i need a way to use my soundcard inputs and plug in fx for some hardware devices..just.. when you try just with the standard plugs inside live you are lost.. the cheapest analog mixer with an spx 90 gives better results than.. Sofar only the ohmboys echo is on board..and theese wallhalla look intersting..also the shimmer one.. because it goes in the direction what i usually do with my lexicon lxp-5..
and regarding reverb.. i allways liked the lxp-1..its very cheap theese days..
but just checked the renisance verb..its only 150 theese days.. thats actually in the range somehow..
but waves plugs use a dongle or? i cant use that on a stage setup...
Maybe i ve to program myself something in reaktor.. but i tryed in the past to do something yamah early reflection like and failed badly.. and nothng in the user libary that gets close..at least i havent found it ..

I've owned a midiverb II for years. Nice little unit. They go for crazy low prices on eBay these days.contakt321 wrote:Aha, thank you for sharing your insight. I always hear good things about Logic Space Designer, never tried it.

Re: A fat reverb !
as powercore has just been discontinued, man should find second hand tc vss3 for cheap. best alg reverb ever, and by far (imo).
Sadly you inherit a bit of latency, but the dsp has advantage to cost no cpu.
lexicon native bundle is awesome too but with a crazy price tag. aether is the closest native to tc and lexicon for a much better price. all are still very high invest...but for me they are the only 3 virtual that can match hardware, their own previous build hardware...
for a cheap one, i would recommand meldaprod m-reverb. just 30$. is really good and modular for that price tag.
in fully free category, mverb (different), pointed by idl is indead a cool decent sounding free reverb, and ultra low cpu.
(on side note, it's creator martin eastwood (aka caco) is a super cool talented guy and recently joined the usine sdk community. he build crasy good sounding stuff for us, like various modular eqs, filters ect with it's little dsp secrets.
and it's next creation he is working on will be an integration of Csound to usine! awesome sound design possibilities to come...

Re: A fat reverb !
ValhallaShimmer is a nice reverb. I haven't picked it up yet but it would be a nice addition to my stable. Problem is, I use reverbs sparingly. And yet, I probably have more of that type plugin than any other.
Out of the whole lot I'd say that Reverberate has been my best value. Pretty low cost and it wears a lot of hats. I use it mainly with IR's from RedWirez in small amounts to really bring life to a lot of the sounds coming out of my synths. If I need to fatten something up that's usually where I turn to first.

Re: A fat reverb !
the midiverb II always had a special place for me because of those funky 'bloom' effects.... but shimmer can do those and sounds a heck of a lot better doing it...
