APC40 and Live on PC question

Post by kingpixel » Sat Mar 26, 2011 12:39 am

don't know if you have a solution and if there is one to this, but if i launch live before i turn on my apc 40, live doesn't see it, i have to close it and launch it again.

Is there a way to just tell live "hey look, the apc40 is now on" or do i really have to off and on it to make the 2 talk?

that sucks.

i once was playing a gig and the power in the club went off for a second. My laptop didn't turn off because of the battery but the apc40 did. I was halfway through my set and i had to finish it with the mouse. I hated it!
I would be very happy to switch to mac but it's not like they are "affordable computers"...

Does not selecting and then respecting it as a control surface work on windows??

Reselecting, my bad....

Of course just respecting it might work, but you'll probably need to physically interact with it as well....

lol

no it doesn't work, i tried and tried and didn't find any solution. I asked other apc40 users and they all say the same.
That's a big shame tho, i think this is an issue that needs to be sorted

I wonder what would happen if you opened up another instance of live and loaded up your set while the other one was still going. Maybe if that worked you could find a way to cleverly mix the 2 back together. This is all just an idea not sure if that would work.

Kingpixel, I've dealt with the same problem. I know, it is really a drag to be having a lot of fun with the APC40 and then something happens and you have to ride out the rest of your set with a mouse. There is no direct solution to this, but the workaround I've come up with is to have some additional sound source, like an MP3 player, hooked up to the mixer and ready to go. Have some kind of transitional music on the MP3 player (depending on what you're doing, it could be something ambient with no drums so you don't have to worry about trying to beatmatch with it) and fade it in. Fade out Live and close it. Then restart it and get your set opened back up and your APC40 online again. Then you can fade back into your set. Obviously not an ideal scenario, but it's an option.
