How do I manipulate multiple track's envelopes at once?

Post by ElectrochemicalReaction » Mon Mar 28, 2011 8:45 pm

I've been recording a drum set in 4 different tracks, 1 for each mic. Is there any way to manipulate these tracks envelopes simultaneously to, for example, create a fade that applies to the whole drumset as opposed to just one piece?

you are first going to want to group those tracks together by "shift clicking" on the name of each track and pressing "command or control G" (depending on whether you have a mac or pc)
you can do this in the arrangement view or session view....
however the next step has to be done in the arrangement view....so i guess better off do it there.
in the arrangement view you will see all your tracks grouped together under one "group track"....hover your cursor on the line between the "group" track name and the first of your grouped tracks name.....your cursor should change to a pull down cursor....(kind of looks like a line with an arrow pointing up and an arrow pointing down) click and pull down....this will show your "fades/device chooser" on your group track
which should read "none" with a down pointing arrow next to it and there will be an empty box underneath.....click on that arrow next to "none" and another menu will appear that says "mixer"
and underneath "show automated parameters only" you want to click on "mixer"........
in the empty box underneath it should now say "speaker on" with a down pointing arrow.....click on that arrow and it will show your "track volume" "track pan" "x fade" "a return" and "b return" if you want to control the volume click "track volume" and the red line will appear and you can draw in your fades....i assume you know where to go from here? hope this helps!!!!
