AU Net Send and AU Net Receive are AU Generator class plugins designed for transmitting AUDIO data across network connections. You need to configure network MIDI ports in Audio Midi Setup utility, then select said virtual MIDI ports within Live just as you would a real MIDI port on a hardware interface.

no, what I'm talking about is built right into Tiger--in the audio/midi prefs.flux wrote:telekom and rahlo, thanks' for your reply, i think the item in Tiger you are talking about is an audio unit plugin called 'aunetsend' and the 'aunetreceive'.
Not had a chance to test this out but it does look promising.
It would be nice if ableton could 'look' for other machines on the network that had ableton running on them and then ask you if you want to jam etc, after all, i thought that was what ableton is about...

Not to side track this thread too much, but anyone have more info or instructions on this wireless midi, audio, Tiger new cool feature??
..I have been dreaming of this for years..Maybe a wireless electricity feature and cables will all be obsolete soon too..

open audio midi setup, which is located inside the utilities folder. Once it's open, click on midi devices. You will see an icon labeled "network." That's where you can set up an airport network or ethernet network, and have Live sync two powerbooks and/or desktops. The instructions in help are pretty clear, but both machines have to be set up in order for it to work.claudek wrote:Not to side track this thread too much, but anyone have more info or instructions on this wireless midi, audio, Tiger new cool feature??

I've played couple of shows now where we set up a private computer to computer network via airport and slaved one powerbook to another. It works great and doesn't crash. At least not yet!
btw, you have to have Tiger on both machines too.

The audio is via the internet. You'll need plogue bidule to run the "receive" plugin. Cause Live doesn't support au generators.claudek wrote:Not to side track this thread too much, but anyone have more info or instructions on this wireless midi, audio, Tiger new cool feature??

The "Netsend" plugin does show up in Live. Works by just putting it on a track or the master.
I havent done a "worldwide" test. But sending to my own ISP and back takes 14ms + 7ms from rewiring. 21ms delay total.
Seriously? I would have thought it made more sense for the two macs to communicate via a private network, just as though you had connected them locally by ethernet. Doesn't seem to make sense to distribute audio via the entire global network. You don't really want your audio turning up half a minute late every time Paris Hilton locks up the network...hoffman2k wrote:The audio is via the internet. Can't you just send the audio to the other machine on a local airport network?
