They've definitely developed some nice features. I used to be on FL but my switch to Live I never regret. I sure hope Live 9 get a major redo and some epic nonbuggy features.

Because it was mentioned here:kb420 wrote:& rock solid midi sync with external midi devices.
Does FL have MIDI sync ?
How stable is it ?

I have no idea. Someone made a statement about Ableton having more employees than Image Line. So I figured if that's the case then certain things that have been complained about should work by now.

Re: Jealous about FL
Exactly. FL emits a horrible screeching noise when trying to record a full band. And the latency is terrible under bootcamp. If they would make a Mac version, they would outsell everyone out there. I used it for years and it is a wonderful program. But, I'm pretty sure they got rid of pattern blocks which was the one thing that kept me coming back. If I could figure out the same workflow in Live I would be pretty happy.jtdj wrote:Trying recording a full band in Fruity Loops and see how you get on.

Besides all those workflow goodies the most interesting thing to me is the patcher. I can't believe it's taken this long for someone to recreate Traction's racks. I would have thought that feature would have appeared in way more apps by now. Kudos to IL for upping the ante.
If they had a change of heart and decided to make a native OSX version I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I tried the demo a couple of times over the years and the only thing I didn't like really was the clumsy way of recording audio. Of course this was back at version 5 or 6 so it's quite possible things have changed by now.
Either way I hope that Ableton is paying attention!

this is where FL leaves you all but high and dry. the way to record audio, then to actually use it, is... fukin lame.jtdj wrote:Trying recording a full band in Fruity Loops and see how you get on.
as a sequencer, making drum patterns, its unstoppable. make the pattern(s), move the "Swing" slider over about a 1/4 of the way. export. done. so fast.
the only thing i do to help with mixing later that slows me down (slightly) is that i make a kick & snare pattern, hi's pattern and maybe a 3rd or 4th pattern with percussion and such. by separating them and then exporting them as separate files, when i import to Live or Cubase i can tweak/fx them individually before grouping.
haven't used it in months, since 8.1.2 came out and Live stopped hanging on me, but i'm suddenly feeling the itch to...
Re: Jealous about FL
I had FL Studio long time ago. Everytime I tried to create something, I had a feeling like I'm fighting with the UI, need to mouse click all the time somewhere to do even most basic things. Then I moved to Ableton Live and It was best (musical) decision in my life.
I have some free update to 10 but I won't even bother
FL workflow just doesnt work for me. There;s too much mess - the whole interface should have been redesigned few years ago...

Re: Jealous about FL
I'd say if you have Pro Tools 9 & Ableton your totally sorted for any production needs. FL may have some nice features and be alot cheaper than PT 9 with Ableton but if you want to do things properly and professionally then you have to splash out.
