Good microphone for sample recording?

Post by musick » Sat Apr 02, 2011 1:48 pm

I'm looking to buy a decent microphone to recording samples for further processing in Live (like done in the Granulator video). Looks the best type for this application is a small diaphragm condensor type. Any recomendations for a good (but not extremly expensive) one?

I found a samson c02 at a pawn shop and it sounds very good.... you need good preamps first... they make more difference then the mic... I have focusrite and there great

I use my fireface 400 as preamp, think that's ok. Preamp should be as neutral as possible.

i figure the fireface preamp should be very good... its my experience that the same mic will sound VERY different depending on the preammp.... just saying dont spend more on the mic then on your preamps... a great mic will only sound sound on great preamps
