Tip for keeping sub-bass in same key as high-end.

Just came up with a trick for keeping my sub-bass in the same key as the mid-range, not sure if this is a good idea or not though, let me know if there's a better way...

So, new instrument rack, two instances of Operator. First one for the sub, transposed by -12 st, mono, low-pass filter at 100Hz. Second is the mid/high, high-pass filter at 115Hz.

Therefore no matter what my midi arrangement is, the sub will always be in time and same key as the mid/high end. Only downside I can see that I need to manually keep my LFO automation the same on both Operators.

I used to just use Multiband Dynamics on a single Operator and mono the low-end that way, but I'd end up with a pretty static sounding sub because the the LFO -> Filter Frequency would mostly only effect the mid/high ranges.

How does everyone else do their sub-bass?

You're probably going to be better off modulating the sub's volume LFO instead of a filter's LFO.

Only downside I can see that I need to manually keep my LFO automation the same on both Operators.

for this you can map the LFO controls to the macro's of your rack then automate the macro instead.
