Things have been fine for me on all the 32 bit apps. I have not checked back but I hope that they update this for 64 bit otherwise mac will be my next purchase. So far on win 7 64 bit is good. Loopbe gave me some trouble with the launchpad app that was made for reason/record. It may work fine but it's not free so easy choice.

it cost like 20 bucks but supports win 7 64
so it seems more future proof...
anyway i'm installing the trial now

well sweetness
http://nerds.de/en/download.html

has a free 1 port version and seems to work a charm.

edit..

well i know i'll need it sooner or later so i paid for the full version
not much to say other then it works
Please elaborate. Is this a better alternative to midi yoke? What are the advantages? Thanks.
don't really see much of an advantage other then it supports 64 bit apps and it may be one less thing i have to deal with in the future.
i just committed to win 7 from the purchase of a lenovo so i'm getting settled... over the next few weeks i'll be transitioning into my new rig but i havn't really stressed tested it all yet... i'll need to send midi loop back data within live plus midi between cell dna and live.

I Installed the LoopMidi. I did it in a virtual machine first to see what it did.
It works really well and it's free (contrary to LoopBe whose makers, I'm sure, are not very happy with the competition. Their free version only allows 1 port).
It's actually quite silly of Microsoft not to have virtual midi ports included with their OS, as it is with Apple.

LoopMidi allows you to choose the number of ports you want to use and name them as well.
It works with 64b applications as well.
The only drawback, I would say, is that the ports are only active as long as the executable is running.
This can also be seen as a positve, in that you can choose when to (de)activate your virtual midi ports.

Thanks a lot for this tip!

I'm still a bit confused. So if I get LoopMidi, I can dump the yoke? Is there a resource that illustrates how to set up say... TouchAble with LoopMidi for instance?

I dumped the yoke and so far no problems. But they could exist side by side.

So you'd install the loopmidi, create the desired number of ports from its gui. Then go to Live and others audio apps (if any) and switch out each yoke for a loopmidi port.
Once you're satisfied that it's working, (or that you'll get it to work), you could uninstall midiyoke (but keep the installer handy just in case).
...Also remember to say a few nice words thanking midiyoke for its many years of service before flushing it.

If you can set things up with midiyoke, you should be able to do it with LoopMidi as well.

It seems my enthusiasm got the better of me once again.
I am having some trouble with it and reinstalled the good old yoke (had to excavate it ;-))

It seems LoopMidi can not have multiple listeners on the same port, so to speak.
With Yoke it is possible to send data out from for instance Live to MidiOx and a display, and/or Midi Translator, all over MidiYoke 2, say.
With LoopMidi, this is not possible. "There can be only one".

Since it does allow you to setup more ports, you could overcome this by serializing everything.
So, you'd go from Live to MidiOx over LoopMidi-1 and then from MidiOx to Display over LoopMidi-7.
If there is a way to overcome this exclusivity, I'd love to hear about it. I also sent a mail to the developer, asking this question.
