Recording problems, please help me

Post by dracuula » Sat Apr 09, 2011 10:39 pm

Im a new user to live and am having problems recording

My problems started when I got a new computer!

Im using live 8.2.2, on windows 7 and have installed the ASIO drivers and it seems to work fine

Im recording (or trying to) an accoustic guitar through a mic and have a terrible hissing throughout.
Ive turned the gain on the fast track pro down and have even tried using a gate to cut out any background noise but with no success.

There was no problem background noise on my old pc before it was damaged I recorded using the same set up but using the MME/directX drivers. It didnt record anything like as loud, but the sound quality was great.

With my new computer the actual volume of the recording is very loud, to loud it would seem as it is over sensitive. Im sure there is some recording volume or gain somewhere I have neglected to turn down.

If anyone could advise me i would be very gratefull

1. there is a knob on the front of the fast track pro to adjust the level

2. that hissing noise might be your computer fan??

Alright mate thanks for getting back to me

Unfortunately the level knob on the front has no effect at all, it still records at the same volume. The hissing noise may be the fan but its unlikely. The computer is very new and is so quiet.

Im starting to wonder if my fast track may be damaged as the level seems to not work

I doubt this would be a factor, but what is your "Mix" knob set to?

Other than that, I don't think I have the knowledge to help you, sorry man. : /
