MIDI clip bug found... multiple clips firing

Post by EnjoyRC » Mon Apr 11, 2011 1:02 am

Issue with multiple MIDI track clips firing when only one should.

Example:
Only one MIDI track defined transmitting on Ch. 12
3 Scenes defined
One empty MIDI clip created in each session
[Clip 01] Program = 1, should transmit "CB 00"
[Clip 02] Program = 2, should transmit "CB 01"
[Clip 03] Program = 3, should transmit "CB 02"

When watching a MIDI monitor, I saw some very unexpected results.
When I click [Clip 01], in the MIDI monitor, it would look ok. "CB 00"
Then stop Live, and Stop Clips.
When I click [Clip 02], in the MIDI monitor, it would show...
CB 01
CB 00

Why would it fire the other MIDI clip?

Then I decided to click [Clip 03], The MIDI monitor then showed...
CB 02
CB 01

Any ideas?

More testing...
If I Hit [Clip 03] after hitting [Clip 02] I get...
CB 02
CB 01
If I hit [Clip 03] again... I get CB 02
If I hit [Clip 03] again... I get CB 02
If I now hit [Clip 01] I get...
CB 02
CB 00

Seems when I change clips, I see the last one and the current one getting sent.

Any other ideas?

More testing...

If I have a MIDI note in each one of the clips, they individually fire just fine.
If I click [Clip 01] it sends that one note just fine
If I then click [Clip 02] it sends just that one new note by itself.

Seems to be only an issue with the Program Change messages.

Yes

My first scenerio, had no notes in the clips. Simply existed to send Program changes to external equipment. So, there wouldn't have been any velocities being sent.

Just did a quick test and can confirm this behavior of Program Change messages.
But it seems to happen only if Live is not running, ie. when Live is started by firing the clip.

Thank you so much for taking the time to test this... It also happens when firing the Scene too. Again, as you pointed out. From being stopped.

Been a while since I submitted a bug. What's the official method to report one?

support don't read the 'music and audio production' threads. There is a forum/community moderator, but he isn't 'support', he just holds the ban hammer

check out how to report a bug here
