Ableton Live 8.2.2 freeze and crash
Hello all,
I posted the other day about having my issues with my Ableton program. It seems to freeze when I am using my AKAI MPK25. I finally got it to work, but after a few minutes and try to click another button on the AKAI or Ableton it will just freeze.
This is what I am running
HP DV6 series
Windows 7 (64 bit)
2.53 Ghz i5 processor
6 GB DDR3 Ram
640 GB Hard Drive
1 GB ATI Radeon Video card
i am using my TTM57SL for my soundcard and of course the Akai MPK25.
any help anyone?

Lots of questions...
Have you contacted Ableton technical support?
Does it freeze without the Akai? Have you tried using a different soundcard? Is there a crash report?

I have tried to contact Ableton, but they haven't gotten back to me.
Before I started using the Akai, Ableton worked fine.
I have sent the crash reports to Ableton and once again I haven't gotten a reply.
Any suggestions?

I'd say try using Ableton without the Akai for a while, and see if the crashes go away. Try to isolate the variables as best you can, and give the support team as much helpful information as you're able to.
The kinds of things I'd look for would be, what other programs are you running, are you using any weird plugins or drivers that you might be able to eliminate, that kind of thing.
Unfortunately there's not much we can do from across a forum - either there's a bug in Ableton or there's some aspect of your setup that's causing the problem. I don't think the MPK25 is generally known to cause trouble so I'd imagine it's somewhere in the setup.
Good luck to you - sorry I couldn't help more.

Re: Ableton Live 8.2.2 freeze and crash
i would suggest to just go back to version 8.21 and hope for a quick 8.23
When ableton cant organize enough betatesters for the betas we cant do that test on the release versions for them..
That are the ones we use on stage and when a new version just smells like unknown new problems you cant really touch that anymore.
Some people even have stated that the release is worse than its last beta.. while i dont know in this case i can state that this has happened a few times before in the L8 struggle allready ..
in any case theese so called release versions still have the flawed betatesting that introduced all the L8 struggle.
8.22 was a long time in development..and its no progress stability wise.. what does that say about the involved betatesting? everybody all day max patching?..and that works much better now?

I am not looking at the Axiom Pro 25,
any suggestions?

I'm having a lot of troubles myself. The crossfader now has a 6 seconds delay. And the faders about the same. And lots of screen freezes. Bummer

got a similar problem, sent in bug reports to the point where i can't bother to send them in anymore, because you never get a reply or a followup. it would be nice to know that they are aware of any potential problems and are working on it at the least.breakabreaka wrote:I have tried to contact Ableton, but they haven't gotten back to me.

when i got my mpk25 live started doing very interesting things, one of them is crach randomly. another one is that my audio interface wants to change samplerate whenever i edit audio, insert devices, consolidate or do anything besides record/monitor input.
have to change my samplerate then change it back again for it to go back and not sound like horrible horrible buffer underruns from hell.
only happens in live and started happening after i got my mpk.
got a similar computer aswell, (dv6-3167eo) running win7 32bit with 4gb of ram and all that jazz.

My friends have an HP DV Series laptop too with windows and A LOT OF PROBLEMS !!!
I had tested ALL their controllers with my MBP with the same Live version and all worked fine.
The true is that are only few PC laptops out there to compare to macs, if you are a PC guy, thinkpads are awesome and very stable.
Have you tested your MPK on another computer?

don't have another computer so no, can't really say that i have.
all i know is that HP is siht and i will never ever buy another HP product again. however, that is irrelevant because this only happens with Live. my HP is shit but even as shitty as it is when Live works it works perfectly. But since my MPK got aquired it's been total and utter crap.
Re: Ableton Live 8.2.2 freeze and crash
Works perfectly because probably the problem is with the USB ports, as happened to my friends.friend_kami wrote: don't have another computer so no, can't really say that i have.

I don´t know why, but windows seems to install something related to the USB drivers by USB PORT!!!, if you connect your MPK in a USB port, then windows will install something to that port, and if another day you plug the MPK on another port, it install something AGAIN and after that, you are f@%#&*@ and nothing more works... it´s sucks!!!
Strange that this appears to happen only with HP models, I had an Dell laptop that all works fine too...

well, surely windows is retarded, we all know that, but are you saying that i bought the only computer that live doesn't support because it doesn some extra magic with the usb?rsaulo wrote:Works perfectly because probably the problem is with the USB ports, as happened to my friends.friend_kami wrote: don't have another computer so no, can't really say that i have.

i hardly doubt that, especially since i'm not using any special hp products at all except the chipset drivers, the audio drivers and the graphics drivers.
the bloated windows i got when i bought it was horrible, but a quick format and reinstall fixed that. this only started happening after i aquired my mpk so either it's in the drivers of the mpk, in the integration between live and the mpk, or a hardware fault with the mpk which seems very unlikely since the problem is that it causes my audio card to go haywire.
which leads me to believe that it's a bug with live.
