Hey all, i have noticed in a lot of house music that "noise" (e.g. white noise, tape hiss, etc.) is used for what i think to be a way to make kick, snare and other instrument sounds seem very loud and more pronounced? I think the noise serves to fill in the empty spots in the spectrum, please correct me if i am wrong.
When i synthesize sound i usually add some noise, and just using the color nob can add some amazing movement to your sounds.
could anyone please share some information/tips about this technique?
Thank you

For me I add noise to 'liven' the sound up a bit. I find with computer based audio production most of the sounds are way to clean and noise is a great way to destroying that.
