Y'alrite everyone?
Ok I don't normally have many questions about this sort of stuff so i'm a bit

. But what is ASIO4ALL? What does this generic driver do? Is it worth having? How does it help?

I'm trying to get it to work for me at the moment. basically you install it and you have a low latency ASIO driver that you can use with any soundcard. The major benefits are with laptop built in cards. Its more like a stand alone program instal than a regular driver instal.

thats it.. install it and then it will show up in your audio device slot then you pick asio4all.

why? so when you hit a key on the keyboard, it wont take a second before it makes a sound, idealy you want to hear the sound as soon as you hit the key.

if you try to drop down the latency setting without asio it will eat up more of your cpu and you also run into problems like crackly audio.

asio = more cpu power performance.

if you already own a soundcard that comes with asio drivers, then you dont need asio4all.

if your using the stock soundcard that comes with your mobo or a soundblaster live, you need asio4all.

actualy i have instaled it on the pc i take for live pa & it reduced the latency to 6ms on my edirol ur80 .
conclusion ,not only for mega crap soundcards .

that's the most clever audio freebee i ever downloaded .

thanks for confirming that spiderpro.

after having had a look at the live4 performance test, I did come across a few systems that did have lower performance compared to similar systems with real soundcards but wasnt sure if it was due to other settings unknown..

even though I dont record external sounds, I was thinking of buying the Behringer BCA2000 for a dabble but was perturbed from its very poor written drivers and conclusivly one person who submitted their system performance with BCA2K did very poor.

I wonder if asio4all with BCA2K would be a compatible match?

Another VERY VERY useful feature about ASIO4all: You can use two soundcards at once!

I use my Echo Indigo as main output, record my voice through the laptop's internal Microphone AND use the laptop's internal soundcard for pre-listening.

OK. I just downloaded and ran ASIO4ALL, but... Where exactly can I set up multiple audio cards?

Is there any documentation for this?

Never mind. found the docs - it's all kewl.

I think I'll be looking to trade my Echo DJ for an Echo I/O. Any takers PM me.
