Do a google for Vinkalmans guide to warping, if you've got warping off your in danger of missing the entire point of live....

And have you completed the lessons?

I need warping off because my songs are differing tempos!
I'm thinking off taking away the trim point flags and playing each song via the arrow clips. If I did this, I could still add effects, maybe experiment a little and concentrate on my guitar, ya reckon?

Ah right,

If you look into how to change tempo per scene this may be the key to your success, you basically can trigger a scene thats named 123bpm and it will automatically set the tempo to this...

Then you can warp all of your tracks and use the quantisation settings either globally or per clip...
