Can you vertically 'hide' clips from the APC 40?

Post by ct43 » Tue Apr 19, 2011 4:11 pm

I was just wondering... I have a load of follow action clips that cascade vertically on my live set. What I want to do is to make them hidden from my APC 40, or at least only have the top one present. Im basically wanting to have follow actions present without taking up clip space on the grid...

Any ideas or alternative solutions?

Thanks

Carl.

nope but you can consolidat them into one clip in Arrange view.

thanks for the reply...

Is there then a way to get Live to randomly loop around sections of the new consolidated clip? Im guessing Max4Live?

Or an easier way?

not that I can think of.

maybe a Follow Actions feature like "jump to clip named xxxxx" then you could put those clips into scenes waaaay down at the bottom.

maybe group that track with another track then when you hold down the track select for it the track will come and go.

or stick that track on the far right or left and move the APC grid away from it.

you can make midi remote clips that trigger and stop follow action blocks in other areas of th escreen set.. maybe at track 20 from scene 60 to 70 your folow actions block sits but you trigger them via midi clips that get routed thru an virtual midi bus...on apple thats done with iac with audio midi setup.. with pc i dont know.. but i heard that there are similar tools available
mac book 2,16 ghz 4(3)gb ram, Os 10.62, fireface 400,

just a silly answer here.

Move the track with your follow action clips out of reach from the apc40 clip launcher pads.

If you stick to 8 tracks in view>> then switch to track 9 at least.
The clips will not appear but are there.

Get simple
You want hiding verticaly then move the track horizontaly

If you guys haven't starting using ClyphX, I fully recommend-o. It is a wonderful "virtual control surface" that essentially allows you to automate and accomplish many things in Live that are not available using the standard API. For example, with ClyphX I can create a clip, name it "[ID] 1/dev1 reset ; 1/dev2 reset ; 1/vol 0 ; 2/vol 127", launch it and the following happens: Devices 1 & 2 on track 1 have all their parameters reset to default, track 1's volume goes to 0, track 2's volume goes to +6.0dB. And that is a basic example! You can do SO much.

Here is a link to their forum: http://beatwise.proboards.com/board/5

It was developed by Stray over at nativeKontrol. If you are not familiar with them yet, get crackin'!

Hope this helps. Reply or PM with any questions. ;)
