Re: Features you would like to see in Ableton 9?
64 bit is on the way but I'd also like to have the ability to use more than 4gb of RAM.
Re: Features you would like to see in Ableton 9?
Ive made a usine patch for my vision of clips, and while testing many stuff, i definitely
find modulation curves could have few/many improvments.
Some simple Quad menu/combobox on right clck
could bring the folowing editing menus:
_an XY way of moding it once selected: Xscale and Yshift for booth X and Y axis.
actually no way to act on 'contrast' datas afaik.
_X scale, x repeat. for exemple one bar CV becomes 1 bar but two cycles (2xspeed)
_Roll (also to at least manually compensate Pdc)
_Blur/smooth. some steped become more rounded hills, linear interpolation.
_shapen. reverse operation
_redux datas (equiv to audio redux)
_swapX, swapY.
_Log or exp so a simple ramp can be turned into exp ones
(or the best would of course be bezier..)
-advanced random noise with detail/octave,seed, noise bias and XYscale
_predefined shapes like sq,saw,sin,tri,log saw.
but all of this is way after first find a n;kj:kl way to rec physical knob moves to them.
actually the curves handling in live is more than very very basic. added to the fact we can't rec them or
freely move them arrange/session drive me mad for a soft like livestanding.
would be nice to work on that.

OMG YES PLEASEcaranlor wrote:Functional track plug-in delay compensation that also works with automation

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this before, but I would really like to see track plug-in delay compensation that also works with automation.

MP3 export. I work in flash-games industry and it's a pain to convert it via third party programs.
Re: Features you would like to see in Ableton 9?
Ability to save a channel with a custom strip / rack
i.e, ctrl + t to add a new audio track pre-loaded with eq, compressor, effect rack etc of your choice - not have to add them/rack afterwards

Re: Features you would like to see in Ableton 9?
When reloading groups of channels, live should attempt to reconnect all the midi and audio routings with channels of the same namne in the project rather than leaving them all on send only or whatever.
Ability to load complete groups as well.

Nothing to see here - move along!

the first is stability
the second is melodyne dna style native technology
the third is metasynth style native technology
allow clip views to switch from spectral metasynth pixel editing to melodyne dna editing back t tradition waveforms
if they can pull those off the competition should just give up

And if Ableton can't get Live stable, they're History imho.
When was Live 8 released?
Apr 2009?
Two Years.
Yes ... I would say that Live 9 is a make or break situation at this point.

I noticed that most of the time I spend composing (arrangement view) goes in scrolling the view up and down. I think the best solution for this would be views, similar style than in S1. You could hide any tracks (or group tracks) and put them back visible. Then you can take a snapshot of which channels are visible.
You have a list of snapshots e.g. in the downleft corner where normally are the help explanations (or some other suitable GUI area). There should be also the option not just see tracks of a view but solo them so that you also hear only the same things that you see on the screen.
Then of course once again: stability, and loading times. Live team should put a lot of effort in testing Live9 with project that has large amount of 3rd party VST plugins, and such implementation that working is possible also under heavy usage of RAM and CPU.
Two things also interesting. 1. bouncing directly to a new track. Although easy to record short clips, if you need to record a long pad section from VST plugin it is frustrating to wait. 2. similar Process properties than in Cubase so that you could apply VST effect directly to an audio clip. E.g. now I have 4 different reverbs on sends, and all of them get signals mixed from different sources but I would want to separate the reverbs (to compress one sound and its reverb differently than another). One solution is of course many instances of reverb plugins but a waste of CPU, RAM and IMO bad workflow. Better solution would be that when you have ajusted send channels to such settings that you like, you could save the send channel into your favorites in Process "menu", then you could apply the send effect chain directly into an audio clip (and possibly do post adjustments with "preview" function before processing).
What else hmm...
