If ableton unleashed the power of parallel processing they'd be indistructable as a company. Check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrJeYFxpUyQ
What do you think?
Parrallel processing support using gpu
Re: Parrallel processing support using gpu
Very complex programming. 10 years away from consumer application.

Re: Parrallel processing support using gpu
For medical applications it´s quite common to use the gpu for algorithms on image(xray) data. This is not complicated with things like OpenCL or OpenTK. Could be more difficult to utilize it for low latency systems though. Also this won´t make Ableton indistructable
This is more likely a nice to have, I would prefer to not stop audio when freezing or consolidating.

Re: Parrallel processing support using gpu
Serial technology always ends up replacing most parallel technology. If Ableton started messing with this it would be like going to the worm store and buying the whole worm refrigerator. I think it's going to become clear that single CPU processing for low-latency software is going to surpass all expectations very soon. In two years the new computers will be challenging to max out
