Please check this out. I have been a loyal Abletonian here for a while. ;-) This is the 1st wave of new music using Live. Choofenhoufen and Stay a little while are version 2.2. The others are earlier 1.5 mixes.

Peace!

Where does Music go?

Post by Spacerboy » Fri Mar 07, 2003 2:26 am

I´m wondering what aim the production of music, especially electronic music today has. this field is incredible stuffed with thousands of pieces coming out every day...i think its more that people make more and more music, but more and more for themself...alone...

....discussion can go on....

i stop here...

I write music for music's sake. Like the drawing of a sand mandala. It's the act of doing and being.

Hmm... depends on the kind of music you produce. I'm into that Experimental Noise / Power Electronics thing and this is a pretty small scene. Everybody knows eachother. One can say that everybody who's listening to this kind of music is producing it as well. so it's a good way to find new friends and have a good time...

Nice one mbazzy! I dig Minim_Uzi_k a lot.... but you knew I would...
Inter_Fear_ence is cool.. raging bass line! yaaahooo! 8)
gee strings is great! attitude rules! done in live?

p.s. good job with the PHP.... you can make a radio of sorts by sending a list of URLs instead of one at a time (for MP3s). I learned this here: http://www.indie-music.com/article.php?sid=1194

How did you encode the real player stuff? I downloaded real.com's app but I couldn't make files that were compatible with my current player without paying for it.

The entire site is coded in html with a little css & javascript [for 'spam secure email'] - no php nowhere used my friend ...

The streaming/d-l is VERY easy : just linked to my trax posted on vitaminic & iuma ....

Glad you enjoyed the ride ... most of that material was made using live or has in the mean time ++/- a Live version

Vitaminic ... prefer it 'cause there is no artificial promotionscheme or so ... if you do well there, and keep doing well , chances are you start having 'a following' ...

Site update

I just added a new track which was originally composed using cubase almost 10 years ago. I have revived it using Live to it's original glory. :)

Where the music "goes"

Post by neuronaut » Thu Mar 13, 2003 4:47 pm

Where the music "goes":

Physically, music "goes" everywhere in the form of waves through space. The music stops "going" after it's hit enough objects with high enough coefficients to reduce the wave forms to unperceivable levels... even then the music is still "going"....

Metaphysically, music "goes" deep into the mind and soul. A fine web of artisans spin intricate weavings of soul connections that bind the spiritual world to this domain. Each thread is a song, a scientific idea, or a new piece of art! The "ah Hah!" moment is unique to the artisan, who's ideas come from a netherworld of possibilities. Even if each thread is not seen/heard/or even known about here in the physical domain, it still exists and adds to the group consciousness of the world. It is part of our natural programming, like eating, we must create and explore, it is part of the universe's eternal quest to become more than the sum of it's parts.

Professionally, music has become _just another market_. Like the food market or the sex trade. Markets change direction like the wind in the ocean. Fads come and go and occasionally some brilliant artists, busy spinning their webs, get swept into the grand boat called market awareness. With the 'good old boys' at the wheel, artisans can catapult themselves into a new level of "going" somewhere. Corporate shwag, custom designed music to please the consumers, and lots of full-color print jobs. Eventually your music is "going" everywhere but hopefully you remembered to bring your own personality along, have a good time and retain your eternal soul.
