Recording Issue-Volume Disrepency

Post by DJLJ » Mon May 02, 2011 10:43 pm

Hey Guys,

Has anyone had issues with ableton outputting a very low signal for any external recording? I am using an EMU 0404 USB audio interface (which I have had lots of trouble with btw), and last week I started having the issue where the audio interface preamp signal is maxed, yet the signal level detected through live is extremely low. Any ideas of what to do? I have a feeling this is more of an issue with my AI based on its shoddy performance in general, but I thought I just might post this and see if anyone else has had similar problems.

Thanks,

Lujing

What is your audio coming from? An instrument? mic? record player? audio player?

It could have a bit to do with your device, but a lot of audio sources A. put out different levels, and B. are often times pre-amped, compressed, etc. before going directly into the plug. Of course, you can make some kind of Rack for bringing your level up. I think there may even be a few Audio Rack presets made for that :)
