WiFi Kills ableton 8

Post by disgraceland » Thu May 05, 2011 9:50 am

Hi there. At the risk of asking a question that may have been asked before..... :)

ok - I am running a dual core 1.8g laptop with a couple of GB memory.

It's stripped down, software wise, and anything that I don't need (services / hardware) is disabled. i.e. CD drive, etc.

If I turn my WiFi on, it just kills ableton - it just stops responding, so as a work around I always disable it. However, Having just got an iPad I want to start using touchable, which needs this connectivity.

Has anyone had a similar issue? Do I need to consider the priority that I give to hardware / software etc? Is this just a problem that isn't going to go away?

Sorry that I don't have a complete breakdown of my hardware, but I'm writing this from work.... shhhh :)

Thanks in advance for any ideas!!

J

The first thing I would try is to uninstall the wifi drivers, reboot, install the newest drivers.

Nice one, I'll give it a go. Going to try the ASIO4ALL drivers as well..

Seems that the issue comes down to having two stereo outputs. If I only activate 1 & 2 as a stereo pair, all is fine. Activate 3 & 4 as well and it just freezes.

Just swapped out the BCD3000 for a Rane SL1 interface. Works fine - seems that this issue is crap Behringer drivers, really :x
