What would you buy?

Post by sinutab » Thu May 05, 2011 1:03 pm

Hey greets from Romania 8)

I am using Ableton 4 years and now I need more power haha
I have Launchpad and keyboard and big screen. Launchpad is very awesome!!

So what I really want to know is what new studio tools you think will make music production process better and faster and more fun. :D Well not very serious but just a fun poll i guess.

I wish I can buy Maschine and iPad but probably I have only money for one!!!

I make lots experimental music but also sometimes triphop style.

1 or 2. Coin toss. Both will bring new things to the studio.

Since you already have the LP I'd go for the Maschine

heyyy

You think Launchpad does most things iPhone can do in studio? But Launchpad also does a lot of things like Maschine. I do use it for drum racks and is very good even though no velocity. :D I think I want to buy iPad so I can make diy control mappings for things like albino, but I also want maschine for beats with no mouse haha

As much as it pains me to say this as an iPad humper, if you’re just looking to get music done I’d go with Maschine. You won’t be reading rss feeds and launching obese birds into pigs or other distractions on Maschine.

I don't have either yet but I get the impression Maschine is great for bashing out beats and loops without touching the mouse, and the iPad would be great for more experimental tweaker stuff, like setting up custom controls for synths and effects.

The iPad gives you lots of nice extras of course, being a nice internet browser and fun device. It would be great if Maschine had its own dedicated synth.

Both devices have caused an absolute storm on here, and both devices have the prospect of software advancements in the future.

Personally, I'm planning on getting them both, eventually. This is gonna be an expensive year for me.

Let me know what you get and how you get on.

I think that if you've got a decent midi controller keyboard and the launchpad, then you've got plenty of knobs and buttons to mess with. And as badass as maschine is, throwing an ipad into the mix would probably give you a completely different feel of working, which in theory might lead to a different sound.

So I voted iPad, even though Apple really annoy me and I wouldn't buy one myself.
