sTART/sTOP With Pedal

Post by sowhoso » Fri May 06, 2011 2:45 pm

sometimes when i assign a ps-25 sustain pedal to start stop a clip to record i only get 2 measures and then it automatically loops

how can i stop this behavior and record as many measures as i want?

i should know this butt...

thx!

p.s. actually i wouldn't mind knowing how to go back and forth between the two behaviors as needed

What device is the pedal plugged into? Is it sending CC# or Note#? It seems that the Looper favors Notes.

I am using a FCB1010. The way I have it set up is something like this:
  • #1 Pedal = Start
  • #2 Pedal = Stop
  • #3 Pedal = Arm Record
  • #4 Pedal = Loop
There has been no way that I have tried that allows me to use a single pedal to do 2 ON/OFF type actions successfully.

right, I forgot that part. It's going into an axiom 25. sending CC64

MPM PS25
This rugged little pedal may be used as a sustain or start/stop pedal for nearly any keyboard, drum machine, sequencer, etc, thanks to its built-in polarity switch. In fact, it will switch channels, activate reverb, etc, on just about any guitar amp, too.

I tried again this morning and got the same behavior.

So i'm messing around trying to figure it, starting, stopping, deleting clips, assigning, unassigning etc and suddenly it's back to behaving the way I want

I have no idea what I did to get it back

I have done a quick google search on the pedal. Unless there is a way that you can set up the keyboard to change the function of the switch each time you press down a key, it is just a regular SPDT (single pole, double throw) switch.

it's working as start then stop with each press, that's all i need

but when recording goes into that funny mode where it only lasts for 2 measures then loops i'd like to know how to get back to normal. it's an ableton thing

anyone got an idea?
