Beware of installing the TouchOSC 1.7 update. While it does come with MIDI support, it breaks all custom names in OSC templates.

Do any one purchase a new BINARY BLEEPS SAMPLER yet? If you do it, can you share up your experience on it? Thank you,I will love you for it.

For the benefit of those of you that never visit the bowels of the Ableton forum that is The Lounge...
I'm posting this here. (Sorry the archaic Ableton forum is among the last that doesn't automatically resize images to fit the page. )
And for those of you that have seen it...
I'm not grandstanding, it's just that I've realized that I feared even peeking into that vile landscape for years, until one of it's denizens lured me in. And now I'm hooked.

For those of you that are interested in going down this path the folks over at iOS MIDI provide a valuable resource.
You can read more about my setup HERE in The Lounge.

From a glance I take in the connection won't let us CHARGE our iOS devices while in use? I get mad at my Midi Mobilizer for the same reason. I like to sit to jam for hours over hours, but, when I run out on juice I get depressed having to wait for a charge.

You could use SoftStep instead which has a AC power option to charge the iPad:

There's also the 5-in-1 camera connection kit which lets you charge via mini-usb and has regular usb as well as AV out:

Wow. I would buy this app again if it wasn’t a free update. Just to support that guy.

Nano will have an in app paid update so you can get up to 16 tracks. So there's still a way coming to support the developer. Now if he would just get that iPad version out already...

Here's a link to my favourite new Ipad/Ipod app.

Its called Custom Keypad. Different to Touchable et all, but a great workflow enhancer.

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/custom-k ... 83617?mt=8

Link to a jpeg of the template I made here:

http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set= ... 6470906650

or its on the International Feel Facebook page.

If you want a copy of the template...drop me a line

Hi Int Feel...

I'd be interested in the template. However, I'm on iPod touch. Can't imagine all those controls fitting on that small screen

Well its easy to create new templates or to take this one and resize the buttons etc

Here's a link to the template:

Record, play, stop, BTA and overdub are keymapped in ableton the rest is 'direct'

Instructions are;

send yourself and email and

Open this email on your iOS device using the built-in Mail app. Then, press and hold the attachment at the bottom of this message to open the layout in the Custom Keypad app.

GarageBand for iPad is a surprisingly useful app, and will probably mature in the months and years ahead. But it's functionality can be significantly enhanced using external midi controllers. In fact by using an external controller you can "play over" a sequence of a running smart instrument such as the piano or acoustic guitar and create lush textures that would not be possible using the GarageBand interface alone. You can even pitch bend an instrument when in focus. In this video I illustrate how this can be done using an Edirol PCR-300. I'm using an enercell Li-ion battery pack to power the USB hub that the midi controller is connected to as the iPad 2 doesn't support any device that draws more than 10 mA.
Note- I posted this link in another thread but I think it'll be better appreciated here.
