Ouch. I personally think Hot Sauce is really really good and is more than worthy of it's own thread. Awesome production.

^ +1 it sounds great.

just got done listening to it. i don't really have too many tracks that jumped out at me per se, but it's all Beastie Boys, no doubt. definitely a welcome arrival in my somewhat stale music repertoire.

got a line that jumped out at me though:

yo sound man make Mike's mic louder
don't make the sound cheap
like a box of douche powder.

listened to it twice on Saturday, again on Monday.

just watched the half hour video, pretty funny. nice to hear the tunes out of an album context. when I listen to the songs as just electronic music they're pretty fat. me thinks my taste in rap beats is stuck in the 90s, Hot Sauce is getting good reviews.

I think we can honestly say these guys really know how to use Reason! :D ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v04EbEVMg0A

Love the part where Ad Rock explains how he dropped his drum machine for Reason! Awesome.

Yep sick album, true to their roots and sound, no compromise here.

shit I paid $20 AUD - in the past that would have worked but at the moment the Australian dollar is worth 90 US cents and has been that high for about a year now but we still have to pay more for everything.....

Shortly after I bought the album from Amazon I realized the album I was looking at on iTunes had some bonus tracks, but I couldn’t tell you the last time I bought an album where the bonus tracks were worth a shit or they throw in some videos I’m never going to watch. But even the base album on iTunes is $10 compared to Amazon’s $8.

My head is so far up Apple’s ass that I almost feel like I’m cheating if I buy music from another source other than iTunes, but Amazon has a lot of music downloads they sell for cheaper than iTunes. I think they are even selling new popular tracks for less than a dollar. And their download software even downloads the music directly to iTunes AND it's already in mp3 format so you don't have to convert the files to use in any other program, unlike when you buy tracks from iTunes. So I think I’ll probably continue to preview music in iTunes and then check if it’s available for cheaper on Amazon.

funny, there's a video to discuss, there's a whole album of rap to discuss and SS is off in the weeds once again posting his own finds. so it goes, that guy... interesting finds.

cool Reason video. dunno about them sticking to their roots, which are punk. I guess dirty synths have a punk sound to them but wouldn't a proper punk piss on a synth if they were asked to play it? roots and labels... meh.

I can see this album growing on me but what's up with listening to an album until you start to like it? I guess if you like a band's catalog it's cool. some bands I love now I used to hate.

confession - I woke up today with Make Some Noise stuck in my head and I liked it.

saw the 30 minute video on the iPhone yesterday (snuck up to the roof in the cold wind to watch it), once I saw it full sized on the computer screen I really LOL'ed. so damn many cameos. 'Frodo' as Ad Rock, PERFECT! love the way they copied shots from old videos. the scene at the end reminds me of the forum some days.

Track 14 "Here's a Little Something For Ya" is the one that got me. I have a copy in my car right now and that's where I wanna go first. I like the first 2 tracks alot and the 7th track... that raggae sounding joint is growing on me a lot. its different for the Beasties...

have you seen Awesome I Shot That? Great video if you're into these guys at all.

i know what you mean but isn't punk really more about the attitude than the instruments, it would have been punk as hell if they had of just used 3 synths and no drums for the whole album :D

fuckin love me some beastie boys though, no matter how you serve'em

I'd be the wrong person to ask. keeping it real, I was into new wave back then and only casually listened to punk. there are posters that are truly into punk. I just can't really think of any punk bands (real punk bands) that used synths. punk and new wave combined into synth bands but Beasties started out as drunken punk guitar playing lyric screaming assholes.

H2O - track 14 is pretty dope. "I shot this" is pretty damn cool. they know how to have fun.

Nonstop Disco is almost awesome but the FX applied to the vocals seem random and desperate.

Too Many Rappers has potential but TBH the "let it out" lyric just loses steam. wish they phrased that with more force.

(I'll lay off too much criticism and stop.)

Why does one have to stay true to their roots?
