Problems with Panning

Post by EoghanTyrrell » Wed May 11, 2011 3:27 pm

Hi,

I am having problems with panning. I am trying to prepare backing tracks for my band. I want to pan the click all the way to

the left, and pan the backing tracks all the way to the right. The click will be fed to my drummer and the backing track out to the PA.

However when I pan the click all the way to the left I can still hear it a little through the PA(on the right).

I am very new to ableton. Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.

regards :D

If you look at the Input/Output settings on an audio channel, they will probably all say they are going out to "Master". Other options include "1/2" (direct stereo out through soundcard) and depending on how you have your Preferences set, there might also be "1" and "2". I hope that leads you in the right direction :)

^ yeah you should definitely check your track routing etc. like yur2die4 is basically suggesting but...

if you can't find the cause you might be able to fix the issue with Utility from the Audio Effects in Live. i wouldn't recommend cheating like that as a permanent or every time type solution, but if you're running out of time or the band is all sitting there looking at you while you try and figure this out... use Utility to get what you need from the output. you can always go back after you're finished recording and sort out the routes.

Or just create you own click using a cowbell sound of something else that triggers with any tracks you are playing. Then you have control over the quality of the sound and when it is on or off.

if you decide to get a new interface, i'd stay away from M-Audio.
