ever consider throwing some wooden sides on it ?
Thanks very much :D

I was just glad to close it up and stop working on it to be honest - these projects are not for the faint hearted!!! Wooden sides, stainless knobs, more lit buttons, joysticks, brushed anodised aluminium top panel, yes, I'd love to have them all :) You wouldn't believe the expense just to get what's done done though.

It's a revolutionary, one of a kind controller.

Cool.

Too bad for DJ whats-his-name... now that other people are making their own gear, he kinda loses some of the marketing clout from his box.

that really is something, hat's off. It is true to the original concept, and I recall there was some debate about the usefulness of the joystick anyway.

but I'd have finished the project much more quickly ... try to drill four holes in a row, get them all out of line and called it a paperweight :).

very slick... plus, you turned that chair into a really nice table :)
UTENZIL a tool... of the muse.

hence the reason why all the flaming arguments about "(x) DJ controller sucks, its so easy, just build your own 10x better!!"

.... were all mainly hot air *yawn*

its also the reason why i would jump at the chance to "own" a maven, and save 5 months of my time and aggravation, for probably half the cost (or more?) rather than design and build my own

mad respect for this though, its gorgeous

Could you fill us in on how all the knobs are assigned?

What are the row of reds for on the left, etc...?

SUPER nice.
15" PB 2.5 Ghz, 4 Gig RAM, 750 GB HD, Live 9 still no cue points or program change messages?!?. Doesn't do shit.

The knobs are all user assignable. They just send increment/decrement data. The reds on the left switch the two banks of 8x2 knobs on the left between 4 'presets' (sets of CC#). The four reds on the right do the same for the 4x4 cluster of knobs on the right. It's all the standard Doepfer setup.
