I have problems with absynth, massive. I really try hard with them, because i have limited myself to ni komplete and ableton, but the sounds often have a colour i dont like. i really dont know if its just me or them.
i think both massive and absyth use samples as their oscillators. maybe this is why you dont like them.
i could never get good classic synth sounds out either.

Massiver is a wavetable synth a little like the PPG, Absynth can use samples, waves, or you can draw the wave yourself. Neither are trying to emulate analogue synths. Though maybe filter wise Massive is. :)

No. Absynth uses dsp oscillators, though it can use samples too. ;)

Alchemy, like massive, uses single cycle waveforms.
