No MIDI Remote 49SL & Launchpad output

Hey guys,

I have recently got my gear together to start some serious producing but I haven't really got started Im already stumbling . I could really do with some help. Basically, Ableton live 8 works fine, when I play an audio clip it's cool, however when I try to play a VST or Midi instrument there is no output.

Here is my set up: MacBook pro, Ableton Suite 8, Novation remote SL49, Novation launchpad.

Now, a mate set it up for me, and when he did we only had the launchpad and it worked fine with Midi & VST plug in. I installed the SL49 drivers and Automap by myself today.

I have looked at the preferences and to be honest I haven't got a clue what Im doing, I have tried to follow the PDF manuel installation of the SL49, still unsuccesful.

If you have two or more automap products you will need automap pro. It's free when you register two automap products. After that make sure the lp and the sl are selected as control surfaces in abletons preferences and enable track, sync etc as per novations guidelines. Then make sure the sl is on template 40.

So far I have been using my launchpad coz I couldn't figure any of it. Thanks for the tip, I will sort it out over the week end and let you know how I got on. thx again
