recomend a program to run visuals with LIVE
Re: recomend a program to run visuals with LIVE
For Live integration, both Cell and Just Add Music 2 looks great. What do experienced users think is better, and why?

Re: recomend a program to run visuals with LIVE
I've been using ArKaos for about 2 years now for various performances (everything from live techno to ambient) and I would recommend it. Even though I'm having some majors issues with right now trying to incorporate my new APC40 into the mix. /sadface
edit: Just remembered I have video of GrandVJ in action for you to look at.

I think ive made a decision with Cell DNA.

Experienced folks: does it work nicely with Live and M4L?
I do not have an Ohm64 controller. I can use either the APC40 or the BCR2000.
If it launches video clips in Session tracks, it should be good for creating music videos.

OK, so ive tried the demo.
Theres some nice effects in there, and I really like the minimal gui with 8 fx macros.
However, there's a few things that holds back a purchase:
1. Its not reacting to my midi controllers in midi learn, even though it finds them in prefs.
2. The FX macros seem really buggy. Some FX kill all others, and they must be reset. Id expect they layer on top of each other: 1, 2, 3, 4, and so on.
3. Can not tune the FX. Only 1 parameter for each! In general, they are way to fast moving for my taste.
4. Very few usable (subtle) FX to my use.
I don't care much for picture slicers and such. Looking for subtle, slow, organic, atmospheric ambient stuff. The feedback fx was excellent, and the meshtronic, the rgb separate, melt, keying works fine, and also tint.
But I need more classic fx. Also miss traditional distortion like waves and zig zag, etc.
The motion fx are not very usable to me if the animation speed cant get slower then this.
My clips are fine as is, just need to subtly alter them. (don't need to slice, zoom, explode, kaleidoscope, etc)
Note: this test was done with the Standalone, since I haven't installed M4L yet.

What kind of LED nets are you referring to? (haven't seen Faithless) If they take a video source, you can use pretty much any video software to output onto them. If they use a DMX or Artnet signal, you need to 'Pixel Map' them using either a Media Server like Catalyst or Hippotizer or a lighting console capable of handling pixel mapping.Khazul wrote:What Im looking for is some good software for driving mutiple LED nets so I can spread moving images over several nets as backdrops. If anyone has seen the current faithless lighting rig, then that kind of thing.

I like it a lot better than anything else mentioned, but it's Mac only yes, too bad huh, I would use it on my PC if I could.
It has really cool layering modes, LFO automation, incoming audio automation, GREAT FX, live feed support from multiple cameras, etc etc etc.

JAM2 looks really cool, especially the tempo sync. Is there anyway to distribute this process over 2 laptops as I'm thinking I would have a laptop dedicated to audio on stage and a laptop for visuals, probably rear of stage. Does JAM or any of these apps for that matter handle synchronising playback speed with a midi tempo clock?
